Professional Questions:
How did you get started in wedding planning? My best friend started helping Katy and they needed an extra hand one crazy day in October 2016 so I started as an assistant and ended up loving it!!
What do you love most about being a wedding coordinator? I love getting to help people live out their dream wedding and meeting amazing people (couples and vendors alike) always makes me happy!
Can you share a memorable moment from one of the weddings you've coordinated? When the couple announced they were expecting everyone at the wedding, even their parents!
What is your favorite part of the wedding day? When the groom sees the bride for the first time! Whether it’s during a first look or walking down the aisle, it’s simply magical!
What advice would you give to couples planning their wedding? Don’t go venue poor!! Don’t do it! Everything costs money, but you can throw a gorgeous wedding at a gorgeous venue and not go broke doing it!
How do you stay organized and manage multiple weddings at the same time? I believe my day job as an Elementary School teacher helps me stay organized and keep track of my weddings for my couples, I have planning files for each and every time I do something regarding a couple or an email, I print it out and put it in their folder! That folder is my Bible for the wedding day!
Can you describe your planning process from start to finish? I usually reach out to my couples via email first to introduce myself and set up a phone call. On the phone call, I get to know more about them, and I make their timeline and send it over when it’s finished for them to look at. During the planning process, I will continually update the timeline. I will reach out to all of the vendors and set up phone calls with the ones we need to speak with before the wedding day. I finalize the timeline with my couple two or so weeks before the wedding day and send it out to the vendors to approve as well! Once they all have that timeline, that’s what we work off of to make a wedding day flow perfectly!
What trends do you see emerging in the wedding industry this year? I love a non-traditional wedding (I.e.- casual ceremony during cocktail hour, more of a mingle dinner situation and less sit-down meal, etc.) I’ve been doing a lot of those!
How do you personalize weddings to reflect each couple's unique story? After speaking with the couple, I get a clue as to what type of vibe they’re looking for and try to execute it as perfectly as I can. Based on their personalities I can tailor certain events during their wedding day to reflect them. For example, party animals just want to party so we shorten everything else and save time on the back end for nonstop dancing and fun! A more laid-back couple? They can tell me whenever they want to cut the cake, dance, etc. The best part is that it’s your day so we can make it work however you would like!
Fun Questions:
If you could plan a wedding anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? Out of the country - Paris, because it’s the city of Love and my dream to visit! In the country - Disney World because it’s the most magical place on Earth!
What is your favorite wedding movie or TV show? This is so hard to answer because after doing this for so long, all I do is criticize weddings on TV and shows!! Some of them are so inaccurate! I would say 27 Dresses because I thrive off of chaos!
Describe your perfect day off: Wake up, run, shop, read in between all of that, binge a show, and nap! Maybe even dinner and a movie with friends after!
If you could have dinner with any celebrity, who would it be and why? Taylor Swift because I feel like we’d be great friends! And she’s just an amazing Boss Babe so I’d love to be around that!
